Interview with Jason Schroeder – System Solutions Architect at Diversified

Jason Schroeder started his career in the early 1990s by introducing practical file sharing to multi-OS environments; leveraging his knowledge to assist creative artists in achieving their goals. With this experience as a foundation, he first worked for a value-added reseller/integrator then moved to broadcast television work under the Scripps-Howard Broadcasting banner. During this time some of the first video-centric shared editorial storage systems were making their appearance, opening the door for greater workflow development.

In 2000, he moved to Los Angeles and spent several years in the booming reality television market, developing systems for a wide variety of programming including Fear Factor, The Amazing Race, Big Brother, The Bachelor and numerous other productions. His exposure to the different studio production groups eventually brought him to Telepictures Productions, a production arm of Warner Bros., where he worked for nearly a decade contributing to shows like Extra!, TMZ, Ellen Degeneres, Lopez Tonight and Anderson.

With an interest in applying his methodology to a wider audience and a desire to evangelize for the human side of system design, Jason joined Diversified Systems in 2012 to bring a creative voice into complex system design and integration opportunities. Primarily acting as a solutions architect, he seeks to advocate for the creative individuals who are responsible for content generation.

In our interview with Jason, we discuss how he approaches designing and implementing solutions for Diversified’s clients. We discuss how he designs for the long-term and how lower cost new technologies allow smaller productions to scale more efficiently.
